Version effective: October 20, 2026 (replaces the September 13, 2026 version)
This policy covers cookies and similar browser storage used by the Dibber website and app. Essential storage is used to provide a service you request. Optional analytics is off unless you actively choose Accept analytics. One exception: anonymous, cookieless usage measurement (PostHog, below) runs on a legitimate-interest basis without cookies and without that choice; it stores a pseudonymous identifier in browser storage, never a cookie, and it is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. You can object to it at any time by enabling Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control in your browser (which we honour) or by contacting info@dibber.pro. You can reopen the settings here, from the site footer, or from account settings and withdraw optional analytics at any time. Refusing optional analytics does not block Dibber.
| Technology | Purpose and data | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase auth cookies | Maintain a signed-in session and protect account access. | Session/provider expiry |
| localStorage | UI preferences, project workflow and map/elevation caches, consent choice, and account-scoped OCR task status/results. | Until cleared or removed; consent up to 12 months |
| sessionStorage | Temporary UI state, tab coordination, and recovery state. | Until the tab/session ends |
| IndexedDB | Pending route and image files used while creating a project. | Up to 24 hours or until cleared/logout |
| Cache Storage | An on-device copy of the control-detection model used for browser-based analysis; it does not contain route files or account data. | Until browser eviction or site data is cleared |
| PostHog usage-measurement storage | Cookieless, anonymous usage measurement (PostHog EU cloud): a pseudonymous identifier and buffered events counting visits, page categories and feature usage. No cookies, no cross-site tracking, no session recording; share-link tokens are stripped before anything is sent; Do Not Track/GPC browsers are not measured. | Until browser storage is cleared |
| Plausible analytics request | Optional, consented page-category measurement. Dibber sends an allowlisted route label without query strings, user IDs, or fragments. | Only while consent is valid |
You can clear browser storage through your browser's site-data controls. Clearing essential storage signs you out or resets local preferences; clearing optional consent causes the banner to appear again. Logout or account switching clears pending files and cached OCR task results. The model cache is not required for login and can be removed when site data is cleared.
Dibber also stores a public connection-help page in Cache Storage for display when a page cannot be reached. The app installation service worker does not cache private pages, maps, courses, thumbnails, API responses or login data. Dismissing the install suggestion saves a local preference that suppresses it for 30 days; this preference is not sent to analytics. Both can be removed through your browser's site-data controls.
hCaptcha, mapping/elevation providers, and other integrations may process requests or use their own technologies when you actively use those features. When you open a Dibber Plus purchase or the billing portal, the Paddle checkout and portal interfaces load from Paddle and may use their own storage for that session; Paddle's notices govern it. Their providers, purposes, destinations, and retention rules are governed by their own notices. Optional analytics uses Plausible only after consent; cookieless usage measurement goes to PostHog EU cloud on a legitimate-interest basis as described above. Dibber does not use advertising or cross-site targeting cookies.
Authentication and security storage is necessary for protected features. Blocking it can prevent login or secured workflows. We explain essential storage even where consent is not legally required.
