Importing Garmin data

Last updated: October 25, 2026

How your watch data gets in: what works today

  • Available now — export a file and import it. Export the activity from Garmin Connect as FIT, GPX or TCX and drop it in the import section's Local File tab. This is the working path, and the steps are below.
  • Available now — import through intervals.icu. Garmin watches push activities to intervals.icu automatically through Garmin's own sync. Connect your intervals.icu account in the import section's Connections tab and import the activity you want — see importing from Intervals.icu. This is the automatic path from watch to Dibber.
  • Runalyze receives Garmin auto-sync too, but it has no open API — export the file from Runalyze and import it here.
  • MyFitnessPal is not a track bridge. It receives calories and nutrition data, not activities or routes, so it can never carry a track into Dibber.
  • A Garmin-to-Strava connection is not a route into Dibber any more: the Strava import it relied on was removed from Dibber. Export the file instead.

Why there is no “Connect Garmin” button yet

Garmin gates third-party access behind its Connect Developer Program, which is currently paused for new applications — no new apps of any kind can connect right now, and Garmin has not announced when that changes. Dibber is ready to apply the moment the program reopens. Until then, you get your Garmin data into Dibber by exporting it from Garmin Connect and importing the file, as described below.

Export an activity from Garmin Connect

  1. Sign in to Garmin Connect in a web browser (export is only available on the website, not in the mobile app).
  2. Open the activity you want.
  3. Click the gear icon and choose Export GPX, Export TCX or Export Original (a FIT file; large activities may arrive as a ZIP).
  4. In your Dibber project, open the import section's Local File tab and drop the file in.

Dibber reads GPX, FIT, TCX, KML, KMZ and GeoJSON, so any of the export choices work — see importing route & map files. Garmin's own guide: How Do I Export Data Out of Garmin Connect?

Importing your whole history at once

Garmin's “Download Your Data” tool emails you a ZIP containing every activity as its original FIT file. It typically takes about 48 hours and can take up to 30 days. Follow Garmin's guide Accessing your Personal Data from Garmin, then upload the activities you want through the Local File tab (one project route at a time).

Courses you created in Garmin Connect

Courses you created in Garmin Connect can be exported too: on the Garmin Connect website, open Training & Planning → Courses, select the course, and choose Download. See How to Share or Export a Course From Garmin Connect.
