Splits, results & comparison

Last updated: October 25, 2026

Where each import lives

The import section's source tabs are Local File, Recent, Results, Connections and Comparison. Results imports the event's official results file, Connections imports an activity from a connected account such as Intervals.icu, and Comparison lays a clubmate's recorded run beside yours. Split times are not one of these tabs — the split importer sits at the top of Control Points on Route Data, where the controls it places live. All of these write into the project like any other import — and every import can be reverted in one step.

Split times from pasted text or a photo

Open the split importer at the top of Control Points on Route Data and paste one split per line — a time like 12:34 or 1:02:03, optionally with a control code (31 12:34). Times can be cumulative or per-leg; Dibber reads them and shows its guess for you to confirm before anything is applied.

  • From a photo or screenshot: upload an image or paste one straight from the clipboard (Ctrl/Cmd+V). Dibber reads the text and fills the box below, where you can fix anything before parsing. Reading an image uses one text recognition credit where credits apply; if the text looks unreliable it warns you, and if nothing readable is found you can try a clearer photo or type the times manually.
  • Before applying: a review table shows one row per line — where each split lands along your track (moving an existing control or creating a new one), and any problems with the row. Exclude rows you don't want. If the cumulative/per-leg guess is wrong you can switch it, and when a start control is in play you can choose whether time starts at the start control or at the track start.

What applying does — and how to undo it

Applying places the controls along the project's timestamped track: splits that match existing controls move them, unknown splits create new controls, and legs between non-adjacent controls are removed — with their saved route variants — behind an explicit confirmation. The times are stored as the race's official results times and drive the analysis where a control has one; each control's time is labelled official or track-derived.

Imports are undoable. After an apply, the import section shows a Revert last import card that restores the controls, legs and route analysis from before the import in one step — the record survives a reload, so you can come back and revert later. Two caveats:

  • The revert only stays available while nothing else has changed — once the controls, legs, route variants or results have been edited since the import was applied, that import can no longer be reverted.
  • Removed legs come back with their saved route variants, but track-linked saved route variants cannot be restored if their referenced track is no longer available.

An import that was interrupted before it finished shows a Discard the unfinished import record action instead, so a half-finished record never blocks the next import.

Official results files (IOF XML)

The Results tab takes the event's official results file — an IOF XML results file in either the 3.0 or the 2.3 form — for a whole class. Dibber matches the file's course to this project's controls and shows you the competitors to pick from; the competitor you confirm supplies the official times that drive the analysis. Controls without an official punch keep their track-derived time.

  • The file is read on your device — nothing is uploaded until you confirm the competitor.
  • The class's other results stay stored with the project for reference, and you can change which competitor is yours later.
  • Replacing the stored results with a corrected file shows exactly what changes before anything is replaced.
  • A results import is reverted the same way as a split import — the Revert last import card, with the same caveats.

Comparing another runner's track

The Comparison tab adds a clubmate's recorded run beside yours on one map. Bring it in as a route file (the same formats as Local File, with an optional runner name), or paste a Dibber share link and pick which run it carries — attribution comes from the share, and a run without a name shows as “unnamed runner”. You confirm you have the other runner's permission before it is added.

Both routes render on the map, with per-leg time and distance differences in the comparison panel plus the route-choice read. You can replace the comparison track with another one or remove it — removal is its own reversible step. Comparison is included in Free within normal project and storage limits.
